The Theme: "Home makes you feel ..."
I think the organizers were quite cheeky in presenting their idea. I certainly see the irony of it! You can take the prompt literally or abstractly, make it simple or as complicated as you want.
When I first looked at the theme, I thought that I would simply re-create a place that I had lived in and submit the literal meaning, but after considering the subject, I embraced the bittersweet aspect and created something surreal .
I felt that I needed to create a world that was fun, yet grounded in an aspirational vision: a story that everyone could relate to.

About the Contest:
Viverse's contest theme: "What makes you feel at Home?"

When I first looked at the theme, I thought of the obvious subject matter, a location, a memory but then realized that 1) having moved around a lot as a child (many of us did) that the concept of home was best represented by the embodiment of something that would transform the abstract into something both real and portable. 2) Home was not always a 'safe' place.

My solution: I painted a teddy bear given to me by my grandmother before I left my home country to Canada and placed it in a version of me in the rocket and in outer space (an ode to Artemis II).

I surrounded it with jars to hold memories and experiences while adding bits and pieces of my culture (yummy desserts) into the world.

Through my artwork, I made the contention that the concept of "home" wasn't something static, but powered and co-created by both self and the universe; a dynamic that enables people to create their own sense of 'home' as they forge with courage into the world.

I hope that you have the chance to enjoy my VR world. Shared experiences and stories help us to respond to each other, to relate and build bridges together and to find joy in humor especially under the presence of awe and wonder. Such is the power of the arts.
Update: The Viverse staff posted my work under the section: FEATURED CREATIVE WORK on the official Viverse page: Thank you Viverse!
